Bruce Katcher, Ph.D. is the founder and Executive Director of The Center for Independent Consulting and author of the highly acclaimed book, An Insider's Guide to Building a Successful Consulting Practice (AMACOM, 2010).
Bruce is an Industrial/Organizational psychologist with more than 25 years of management consulting experience. He is past president of The Society of Professional Consultants and has been mentoring independent consultants for the past 15 years. He has delivered more than 50 invited speeches on starting and growing independent consulting practices.
Bruce received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in 1983 and has been consulting ever since. He has worked for several small consulting firms and for four years for the international firm, "The Wyatt Company" (now part of Towers Watson). There, he headed up their "Organizational Research and Development" group.

Bruce is also the founder and president of Discovery Surveys, Inc., a firm that specializes in employee engagement and retention. He authored the award- winning book, 30 Reasons Employees Hate Their Managers (AMACOM). It provides lessons learned from the more than 50,000 employees he has surveyed in more than 80 organizations. His more than 100 clients include Alcoa, Delta Dental Plan, Dunkin' Donuts, Johnson &Johnson, the Mayo Clinic, Revlon, Science Magazine, Sodexo, the Tata Group, Timberland, Tufts University, Velcro, and W.R. Grace.
His views on employees and his survey research have been frequently quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, The Christian Science Monitor, Industry Week, Science Magazine, and The Washington Post.
