Proactive Job Search
When it’s time to find a job, these days most job seekers immediately head for job boards to see what’s being posted.  Or, they check  the newspaper classifieds.  They passively wait for the right job lead to show up - or maybe the nearly right lead.  Then, they apply.  And then, they wait to hear about their application. It feels like a numbers game.  Apply for enough jobs and sooner or later you get lucky and land one of them.  Any job will do.  Easy, right?

No - not really easy.  And not very effective.  It's a reactive job search - siimply reacting to what pops up, depending on luck to find the right job at the right time.

What is more effective? A proactive job search.  One in which the job seeker takes charge of his or her fate, as much as possible, and goes out to find the right job with the right employer.  It's often more work than a passive job search, but it's also often much more effective!

In this section of Job-Hunt, Proactive Job Search Expert Kathy Simmons will help job seekers see how they can take control of the process and proactively find the job they want.
