Ask yourself this: When you think of “Sales & Marketing Rep”, what comes to mind? NUMBERS! What do you think recruiters and hiring people want to see on your résumé? NUMBERS!

I am amazed at the number of sales folks whose résumés DO NOT contain enough numbers on them. If you excel at sales, then you need to sell yourself and the place to do that is on your résumé.

Obviously we can’t control economic indicators or certain company decisions, but we can certainly control our own career destiny and here are a few tips for doing just that.

Here are 14 examples of percentages or dollar signs that may help you when writing your resume:

  1. Revenue Generated
  2. Territory Increases
  3. Units/Amounts
  4. Licensing/Servicing Deals/Agreements
  5. Customer Satisfaction Increases
  6. Ranking against other Sales Reps-- # or %
  7. Business Development numbers
  8. Budget
  9. Cost/Expense Savings & Decreases
  10. # of Customers
  11. Cross sell/Up sell
  12. % Growth Year over Year
  13. Promotional Spend/Costs
  14. Projected Targets/Goals/Quotas

Be generous with your numbers—if you have them, flaunt them! Sales is all about numbers, so don’t leave yourself out of the running by not adding yours.
