If you are a veteran on of the military services in the U.S. Department of Defense, you may be entitled to preference in federal employment opportunities.  This includes the the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S.Marine Corps (Semper Fi!), and the U.S. Navy.  Visit the U.S. Department of Labor's Veterans' Preference Advisor for details.

Some of these sites may send you to USAJOBS.gov to see the job postings, but most do not.
