Leaving “the service” is a culture shock as well as an opportunity to change career direction, and the need to assistance in that transition from the military to the civilian world is often very helpful.

To help with that transition, each state has a section of the state’s government which is focused on “Veterans’ Affairs” and/or “Veterans’ Services.” Often the assistance provided includes employment support, resume help, and other practical job hunting advice.

For qualifying veterans, money for education may also be available. Check with your local Veterans Affairs offices or Website to find out what you may qualify for.
