TV and Radio Announcers Job Overview

TV and radio announcers perform an array of duties on and off the air. They announce station program information and introduce and close programs. They also provide public service information. TV and radio announcers also interview guests and moderate discussions. Some televisions and radio announcers make promotional appearances and are involved with remote broadcasts for their station. Announcers employed by small stations may also perform various off-air duties.

There are numerous broadcasting schools. These schools have varying reputations. Some colleges offer broadcasting programs. Many schools offer programs in communications and journalism.

Job Requirements

Many announcers have a bachelor's degree in broadcasting, communications or journalism. Many employers require announcers to complete long-term on-the-job training.
