Job Overview

Product marketing managers are involved in determining the demand for products and services that are offered by a particular firm and its rivals. They are also focused on the identification of potential customers. Marketing managers shoulder the responsibility of developing pricing strategies that will help enhance the firm’s profits, and at the same time they try to maintain customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements

Management training programs and continuing education options are provided by firms. Candidates with the right degree and experience can opt for these programs. Marketing associations sponsor management training programs in collaboration with colleges and universities that focus on marketing communication, international marketing and brand and product management.

The job requires considerable travel, for which they must be prepared. Being flexible, resistant to stress and decisive are some other qualities that are sought in a product marketing manager. They should also make an effort to maintain good personal relationships with the supervisory firms.

Nature of Work

Marketing managers are required to work in offices that are close to the offices of the top managers. They need to work under pressure and for long hours if the situation demands so. Working during the weekends may be required when deadlines have to be met. Marketing managers have to be present at meetings that are sponsored by related industries or associations.
