Firefighter Supervisor Schools, Salaries, and Job Data

Job Numbers and Growth

Nationally, there are 52,000 firefighter supervisors. The occupation is characterized by a very low joblessness level.

Area Job Conditions

Looking at firefighter supervisors per capita, Flagstaff (Arizona), Redding (California), and Kingman (Arizona) rise to the top of the list. Fort Worth (Texas), Austin (Texas), and Houston (Texas) have the fewest per capita.

The highest salaries for workers are in and around San Francisco (California), Oakland (California), and Chicago (Illinois). The lowest-paying areas are Lake Charles (Louisiana), Scranton (Pennsylvania), and Springfield (Illinois).

Training and Education

Successful employees find it useful to have work experience in a related occupation. According to recent surveys, 17% of firefighter supervisors had received a degree.
